Guide to Costa Blanca

At a Glance

Miles of fine white sand and crystal turquoise waters draw people to our holiday villas in Costa Blanca every year.

Golf, theme parks, water sports, horse riding, caves, and colourful fiestas are just a few of things this busy coastline has to offer. But there is much more to the ‘white coast’ than hugely popular resorts, lively beaches and buzzing nightlife. A mountainous backdrop frames the ocean, the countryside is striped with citrus and almond groves, traditional villages are cut into hillsides, and Moorish towns give a taste of a historic past.

So whether you choose to enjoy the action or shy away from it, our holiday villas in Costa Blanca are perfectly placed to give you the choice.

  • Out & About

    Go… exploring

The Costa Blanca offers such a wide variety of activities that holidaymakers are spoilt for choice. Sightseers delight in the Moorish castle at Guadalest, the Castell de Santa Barbara in Alicante or the area’s countless historical churches. Explorers take to the cool Sierra de Aitana mountains, discover caves and waterfalls and breathe in the fragrant citrus groves. Families will love the water and theme parks, water sports and the many excursions available. For others a range of sports are on offer, including a coastline filled with some of Spain’s best golf courses. However you choose to spend your holiday, you will find something to suit you.

    Go… to the beaches

The white sandy beaches of Costa Blanca offer every modern convenience and many have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness. Water sports, diving and sailing can be found in most places along with beach bars, restaurants and shops. The shoreline is dotted with rocky bays and secluded inlets good for diving and fishing - but it is the clean white sand gently sloping into clear sapphire water that really appeals to families and couples alike and makes our villa holidays in Costa Blanca one of the most popular in Spain.

    Go…shopping

Shopping on the Costa Blanca is some of the best Spain has to offer. Coastal town streets are lined with shops selling everything from handbags to lace, and perfume to sun cream. Most items are competitively priced and a good buy in the area is locally produced wicker wear. For fun shopping, visit a lively market – stalls are filled with fresh fruit and fish, hand-painted ceramics and colourful rugs. For chain-stores and more sophisticated designer wear, visit Alicante’s large malls or browse along the esplanade and try the turron (nut nougat) a local delicacy.

    Go… for nightlife

Costa Blanca is one of the Spain’s hottest nightspots (party scenes) and countless bars, discos, clubs and pubs draw partygoers all along the coast. Our villas are set away from the liveliest resorts where people take a more relaxed approach to evening entertainment. Javes, Moraira and Altea have a good selection of bars and restaurants and a couple of discos. Try a traditional paella to the sound of Spanish guitar, or enjoy local tapas and watch a flamenco display. Or simpy stroll along the harbour and soak up a warm summer evening under the stars…

    Take time to go…

  • to a local fiesta. Witness the epic battle between the Moors and Christians, or watch giant effigies burn on the bonfires of the Fallas.
  • to Tirra Mitica, the largest theme park in Spain. Ride through the myths and legends of the ancient world. The brave can try the Tizona – an inverted rollercoaster that reaches speeds of 62mph!
  • to the Castell de Santa Barbara at Alicante and enjoy the wonderful view of the city from its lofty tower.
  • to Europe’s only palm forest at Elche and the Parque Municipal inside the city to enjoy its grassy tree-lined walks and adventure playgrounds.
  • and discover Alicante’s oldest building the Museu de Arte and view its impressive modern collection including works by Dali and Picasso.
  • and take the ferry from Alicante out to the tiny islet of Tarbarca, choose a seafood restaurant in the quiet fishing harbour and enjoy a lazy lunch alongside a rocky beach with crystal blue water.
  • to a local market and taste the finest oranges in the world.
  • and take the children to Aqualandia and dive through the waterfalls, conquer the rapids and slip down slides at this marvellous water park.

Another lively fiesta is the Festival of the Bonfires, where large papier mache figures are set on fire to symbolise spiritual rebirth.

The main festivals are held in Alicante, but there are smaller Fogueres in Javea, Altea, Moraira and Calpe. – see your local tourist office for details. Other national holidays in Spain include:
