Guide to Vale Do Lobo

At a glance

Val do Lobo is an exclusive, self-contained community with its own entrance gate and security guards, and is one of the most prestigious resorts in Portugal. There is an extensive choice of restaurants, bars and shops, an onsite doctor, bank, post office and supermarket – everything you could need on your villa holiday.

People come to Val do Lobo for the excellent golf courses. There are two 18-hole championship golf courses which are reputedly two of the finest in Europe. Some of our villas overlook the fairways in tasteful gardens blooming with pretty flowers and exotic trees.

A beautiful 2km beachfront has clean white sand and clear blue water. You can hire sun beds and parasols and there is a fashionable beachside restaurant for refreshments.

For those seeking a sporting break, there is a tennis academy with 14 courts, a sports centre with squash courts, swimming pools, a gym, horse-riding and numerous water sports on the beach make this a pleasant villa holiday destination for all ages. Some of our properties include membership to Barringtons Leisure Club with spa, beauty salon and indoor and outdoor pools.

Useful Info

Villas to Go recommended local beaches…

  • Quinta do Lago & Vale do Lobo - Nicknamed as Gigi beach, a well kept 3km stretch of sandy beach with dunes behind and fringed with pine trees, bars and restaurants. Good surfing conditions.
  • Vilamoura and Falesia - Very long stretch of sand backed by cliffs at the Falesia end, running from Vilamoura marina to the fishing village of Olhos D’Agua. Warm waters with good water sports facilities and lifeguard at the Vilamoura end. There are also several good restaurants overlooking the marina.
  • Villas to Go recommended golf courses...

  • Ocean – A course aptly named because of its stunning views of the sea as the holes wander through pine trees and the homes lining the fairways. One of the Algarve’s older courses, and responsible for putting Algarve on the golfing map.
  • Royal – Some new holes were added to the original Vale do Lobo course to create this skilful layout filled with challenges. The famous ‘seventh’ hole of the old course is the sixteenth on the new one.
  • Quinta do Lago South – A neighbouring championship level golf course in Quinta do Lago which has been used several times in the Portuguese Open. The course favours the long hitter, but presents a challenge for all levels of player.
  • Take time to go…

  • Make the most of the great outdoors and take a walk in the Rio Formosa National park and see some of the regional birds which nest there.
  • Visit your local market and choose from fresh local produce or explore the pottery shops along the N125, and take home some hand painted ceramics.
  • Explore historic Faro, and visit the Bishops Palace or Renaissance-style cathedral. Take in Carmo Church where chapel walls are decorated with bones, or discover the Roman ruins of Estoi at the Archaeological museum. Finish the day in a restaurant hiding in a tree-lined street and enjoy the ambience of this tranquil old town.
