Guide to Mallorca Self Catering Holidays

Mallorca, sometimes spelt Majorca, is the largest of the Balearic Islands lying off the coast of Spain and is certainly the busiest in terms of tourism, with over 10million visitors a year swelling the local population from 780,000. Don’t let those numbers put your off though, as our Mallorca villas and apartments offer a haven of tranquillity whatever time of year you wish to travel.

Holidayers come for Mallorca’s great mix of beach resorts, stunning coastal and mountainous scenery and to get a flavour of its rural and historical settlements. Our villas in Mallorca are mainly located in the North-East, close by to the bays of Polenca and Alcudia and are a great base from which to explore much that this enchanting island has to offer. It is but a short drive or walk to the beaches of white sand which gently shelve into the warm blue waters of the Mediterranean, or to the ports where there are fabulous restaurants and regular boat excursions that let you explore the coastline from a different perspective.

Head inland and along the north-west coast and you’ll soon find the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, great for trekking or afternoon bicycle rides when the temperature is starting to cool. Temperatures in summer range from typically 20 degrees Celsius to the early 30’s, so take plenty of sun cream and make sure you always have a bottle of water handy!

If that all sounds too strenuous you can always kick-back, relax and admire the lowlands from your private pool, gazing out over the lush green countryside, olive groves and pine forests. All our Mallorca villas have their own pools meaning both adults and children are free to splash about from sunrise to sunset without getting crowded out of the water that tends to happen at many hotels in peak season.

For those that fancy a spot of retail therapy, there’s a wealth of choice in Mallorca. Local markets and lively shopping streets populate many of the villages and towns, selling food, drink and craftworks. If clothes and electronics are what you’re after, make a day trip of it and head out from your Mallorcan villa, across the island to the newly developed shopping malls and chic boutiques which can be found in and around Palma in the south west – but don’t forget to take plenty of money!

With so much on offer, it’s no wonder that visitors come back to Mallorca year upon year to stay at some of the best villas and apartments in the Mediterranean.
