Croatia is a country of incredible natural beauty, with some spectacular mountains, rolling hills and a rugged shoreline lapped by an azure sea. It has a long maritime border with Italy in the Adriatic Sea and these coastal regions enjoy a sunny Mediterranean climate characterized by warm summers and mild winters. Further inland, the climate becomes more continental with hotter summers and cold snowy winters.
Croatia has an astonishing 5,835km of coastline in total, including well over a thousand islands, most of which are unpopulated. The majority of our properties in Split and Dubrovnik are very close to the obvious attraction of the azure sea, but Croatia has plenty more to offer from historic architecture and beautiful scenery to charming villages scattered amongst the hills. Italy has had a strong influence over Croatia's history and the lovely region of Istria is often referred to as a ‘little Tuscany surrounded by the sea.' This popular tourist destination has some delightfully laid-back seaside resorts, the combination of sea and mountains providing opportunities for a wide range of leisure activities including, hiking, horse-riding and watersports.
Villas to Go has a selection of holiday properties in Croatia ranging from small stone cottages in idyllic locations to modern Croatian villas with private pools.
Low cost airlines fly from the UK to Croatia's main regional airports
The official language of Croatia is Croatian, which is written in the Latin script. However, English is widely spoken in the areas popular with tourists, with most students and young people having some knowledge of English.
The Croatian currency is the Kuna (or Kn), which is divided into 100 lipas.
Croatia is 1 hour ahead of GMT, the same time zone as the majority of Western Europe.
