Villa Oracle

This family villa has the advantage of being set in the country, within walking distance of a village and only 3km from the sandy beach of Platanes and is located midway along the island of Crete on the western side. An ideal base if you are want to visit famous historical sites such as the Palace of Knossos, the Monastery of Arkadi, the Preveli Palm Beach and the old historical town of Rethymnon.

Rethymnon is 10km away, a 10 - 15 minute drive by car. This lively, ancient city offers a mixture of attractions. Swim and spend time on the long sandy beach. Visit the old city and explore the narrow alleyways around the Venetian harbour. Stop and have lunch in a taverna or browse in the boutiques in the hope of finding that special holiday purchase. You might like to walk through the town and visit the world’s largest Venetian fortress noting fine examples of Venetian and Turkish architecture as you go. For a special evening out you might like to spend a pleasant evening in one of the many restaurants that are available in Rethymnon.

Approach

This pretty pastel painted villa comes into view after a journey through winding, shady roads. Open the gate, park the car in the space provided and as you do so, note the immaculate garden with green lawns, pool and patio areas. Make your way up the few steps to the front door and begin the exploration of your holiday home.

Ground Floor

The front door opens directly on to the open plan living space with natural light coming in from windows in the dining area and patio doors that lead to the terrce and pool. Tiled floors, pastel walls and air conditioning all create a cool refreshing atmosphere. This area has comfortable seating and a dining room table and chairs. Entertainment facilities include TV, DVD player and CD player. A special feature of this room is a local stone fireplace extending from floor to ceiling. This would be a lovely room to retreat from the sun at midday.

You will also find a twin bedded room on this level that can be accessed from an inner hall that leads off the living area. This could be a useful addition to your holiday villa for those people who, for one reason or another, are unable to climb the stairs to the upper floor.

Ground Floor

LOWER LEVEL - Here, there is a large twin bedroom with separate shower room and doors leading to the garden area. This could be an ideal room for those in the party who like to get up early and go for an early morning swim.

First Floor

The master suite has a romantic four poster bed together with an en-suite bathroom and Jacuzzi bath. Patio doors lead on to a large terrace where at the end of a day, you can sit, sipping a favourite drink while a myriad of stars twinkle down from an inky black sky..

The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. When you open the windows you will be able to smell the wild herbs growing in abundance on nearby hills.

Outside

The more energetic members of the group might like an early morning walk to the nearby tiny village of Agia Triada to buy bread and honey for breakfast.


The rectangular pool has integrated steps and a shallow curved seat at one end; a lovely place from which to look out on the surrounding countryside and daydream. The pool and terrace are elevated and will provide a memorable place to sit in the evening. You might like to be adventurous and slowly roast a Greek style leg of lamb in the clay oven. Imagine being surrounded by friends and family as dusk falls, while you cook up a storm on the barbeque. A lovely way to end a perfect day.
