Location

Mestral is a superb new villa is just a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean which which lies glistening at the end of the road. The villa has views towards the beautifully preserved Alcudia Old Town which is just a five minute walk from the villa and offers a choice of shops, restaurants and essential amenities. Not to be confused with the more modern resort of the same name, Alcudia is the oldest city in Mallorca and the Old Town is still surrounded by walls that date from the 14th century. Explore the Roman ruins, wander the maze of narrow streets lined with traditional small shops and cafes, or browse the fascinating Sunday market before enjoying lunch in one of the town’s excellent restaurants.

If you are looking for something a little more lively, the bustling port area of Alcudia is only a short drive or taxi ride away and has a large selection of shops, restaurants and boutiques lining the sweeping sandy bay. There is plenty of family based entertainment until late evening, but the bars and nightclubs stay open long into the night for those who wish to party until the early hours. There is a water park here and numerous other activities to suit all ages. Golf is available at the new Club de Golf Alcanda on the Alcudia peninsula or a little way inland at Pollensa.

The beaches along the Pollensa Bay shoreline have white sand shelving gently into the warm blue waters of the Mediterranean, with numerous activities on offer and a good choice of water sports. The main beach at Alcudia has 7km of curving white sand and is lined with thatched beach huts and sun beds with an array of beachside bars and restaurants to choose from.

If you wish to travel a little further afield, Pollensa Old Town, around 11km inland also has Roman origins and is worth a visit – the main square, Placa Major, is a lovely place to linger for lunch or evening drinks. Puerto Pollensa, a little way north around the bay has a great beach with good facilities and you can join a boat excursion here which will head off up the coast towards the Formentor Peninsular, taking in some of the more secluded coves along the way. Evening entertainment is more low key here than at Puerto Alcudia – take an evening stroll along the famous ‘Pine Walk’,a charming, leafy promenade lined with restaurants and cafes.

In Detail

Approach

The villa is conveniently situated just a few hundred metres from the sea, with views towards the lovely old town of Alcudia.

Ground Floor

The heavy arched entrance door opens to a stylish living area with a sleek wooden floor and white walls. Comfortable sofas are arranged around a central coffee table and there is an alcove housing the television with some satellite channels, a DVD player and CD player.

Glazed double doors lead to the kitchen/dining room which has a stylish range of fitted units in bold red, with stainless steel appliances including an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There is a modern wooden dining table with seating for eight and beyond this, French doors to the terrace overlooking the pool.

There are two twin bedrooms and two double rooms, one with a four poster bed with chiffron drapes. Each bedroom has it own luxurious bath or shower room (three are en suite) and all the rooms are well furnished and decorated in an attractive, minimalist style.

Outside

Adjacent to the villa is a furnished covered terrace, with steps down to the rectangular pool which uses a natural filtration system for cleaning rather than chemicals. The pool has a Roman end with integral steps and there is sun decking at this end set with sun-loungers.

The spacious walled terrace surrounding the pool has a swing chair and is very well equipped for outdoor living with a delightful covered dining area, barbecue kitchen and a convenient shower and WC. There is an exterior utility room housing the washing machine and gated access to the roof terrace.

Dotted with palms and Mediterranean greenery, the pool area really is great place to relax in the sunshine and enjoy views over countryside to the distant mountains on the horizon.
