Location
Casa da Oliveira is in a quiet residencia on the outskirts of the pretty coastal town of Alvor in the western Algarve. The villa has its own private pool, and is set in lovely grounds, in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area. The pretty beach at Alvor is only 2km away, a wide stretch of fine white sand with good facilities which is popular with holidaymakers of all ages. The closest restaurant is only 500m away, perfect for a meal with friends and a couple of glasses of wine, then a quick walk home. Likewise the local shop is a similar distance, easily reached in the morning for freshly baked bread or a missing breakfast ingredient. For a wider choice, the shops and restaurants of Alvor are about 1.5km, which is still within walking distance, if you enjoy a stroll. This ancient coastal town has blossomed into a popular resort in recent years, and now has a selection of different Portuguese and international restaurants and bars to choose from for a night out. The old town is still recognisable as the fishing village that it once was, however, as can be seen in the whitewashed houses and narrow streets. The beaches at Alvor consist of the wide sandy beach of the resort but there are also a number of pretty coves tucked into the coastal cliffs.
The western Algarve has several other beautiful beaches. Meia Praia is a little further to the west and is one of the longest stretches of beach in the Algarve, with 4km of fine white sand, that spreads between Alvor and Lagos. The beach has many bars and is good for surfing. Praia da Luz is a large sandy bay further along the coast with a is a good resort for families and has excellent water sports.
For those travelling with children, there are plenty of distractions locally to keep them busy. Slide and Splash is a waterpark at Estobar, east of Lagoa which is well signposted on the EN125, and Aqualand is a half hour drive, and is Europe’s biggest water park. Also local is Omega Wildlife Conservations Park, near Monchique, also a half hour drive, where you can see animals in their natural habitat.

The room is spacious and comfortably furnished with two sofas and an armchair gathered around a modern wood burning stove and chimney breast which is the room’s focal point. The room has a satellite tv with some english channels and video, and also a CD/cassette to keep you entertained in the evenings. Also in this room is a round glass table with seating for four people. The room benefits from several windows which flood the room with light, and at one side of the room, there is a bar which leads directly out to the pool area.
The fitted kitchen has base and eye level units in a light wood modern design., and comes complete with hob, oven, hood, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The kitchen has a dining area with seating for eight and a separate pantry. Doors lead directly onto the pool terrace, ideal for reaching the outdoor dining area.
The master bedroom has twin orthopaedic beds which are pushed together, and an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower cubicle. The second bedroom also has twin beds pushed together, and has use of the separate family bathroom, complete with bath, wash basin and toilet. The third bedroom is twin bedded and has doors leading to the covered terrace and the garden.
Outside
The pretty arched covered terraces which surround the pool are perfect places to sit and enjoy the cool of the shade, or to dine out in the balmy Algarve evenings. The pool is large and oval shaped, measuring 8m by 4m and ranging from 1-2m in depth. At one end of the pool is a small paddling area, ideal for those with young children to play in, and integral steps lead into the main pool. There is a portable barbecue for outdoor dining, and a poolside shower for your convenience. The roof terrace has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and river views.
Additional Information
It is possible to heat the pool, at an extra £120 per week. There is also under-floor heating in the villa at a surcharge of £85 per week, except in the bedrooms. "We would not hesitate to use the services of Villas To Go in the future and would highly reccomend them. The personal service we received was second to none. The instructions and details sent prior to our trip ensured a smoothe journey and enabled us to plan in advance. The villa itself exceded expectations, was exceptionally clean and was a very relaxing environment; very family oriented."
"Alvor is a beautiful town with superb restaurants at very keen prices. We found the area excellent value for money and the local people were very friendly and helpful. Taxis and buses are easy forms of transport if you do not wish to drive. They are inexpensive to use. The beaches are close by and the harbour is very peaceful. An excellent place for families and couples alike."

"The peace and quiet Alvor is a lovely area with easy reach to bars restaurants and beaches."

"Car hire not necessary. Beach and town is a fair walk from the villa (15-20 mins) and the town is only 10-15 mins. Taxis are easy to get and are also a good price (with tip, about 5 euros to town.)"
